To date, I think out of all the games I’ve reviewed this postseason, this has been the most difficult. I feel as though the Rams will come in being highly motivated after their week nine, 45-35 loss. In that game, Michael Thomas absolutely abused the Rams’ secondary, but mainly Marcus Peters in the first meeting. Thomas had 12 catches for 211 yards and one touchdown. I feel as though with Talib back, it will take a great deal of pressure off Peters. I think the Rams’ biggest X factor right now is their run game. Todd Gurley is healthy again, and with CJ Anderson running the way he has the past three games while averaging 140 yards a game and a touchdown, I believe that makes the Rams’ offense even more lethal. When you can wear down a defense with Anderson’s power coupled with the fact that Gurley has power too, along with the speed, that makes these guys a potent running back duo. Jared Goff looked like he was out of his slump last week, and that’s a good sign. If Goff can build off their game last week, then the Rams’ chances look good. The Saints’ X factor is their run defense. Sheldon Rankins’ injury along with him being their best run stopper could be the thing that derails the Saints. The Saints’ offense hasn’t been the same since their loss to the Cowboys in week 13. It seems like they’ve already hit their peak and are now on the downfall. Meanwhile, the Rams look like they’re hot again! Because they have already been to the Superdome, they know what to expect and how the crowd will be ready for a showdown; especially for the NFC Championship. I believe the Rams’ defense will be ready to go, and that the offense will take the crowd out of it. With the run game, the Rams will advance to the Super Bowl!
