Los Angeles Rams vs Cincinnati Bengals
Ladies and gentlemen, we are finally here Super Bowl LVI, and we have the NFL’s super team in the Rams going against the Cinderella team in the Bengals. The Rams overcame their biggest nemesis the San Francisco 49ers to reach the Super bowl while the Bengals pulled off a shocking 18-point comeback to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs. A slept-on X-factor is this is essentially a home game for the Rams as it takes place at SoFi Stadium. The Rams will be looking to win their second Lombardi trophy in franchise history. The Rams are making their 5th trip to the Super Bowl and looking to add it’s second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history. Cincy is hoping to secure their first as they have gone 0-2 in their other 2 appearances.
The key for the Rams is to create pressure without blitzing. The Rams must get to Burrow just rushing 4 but they have the group to do so with Von Miller, Leonard Floyd, Greg Gaines, and Aaron Donald. Burrow has been solid all season against the blitz but the Rams rushing 4 still shouldn’t be a problem as the Bengals have one of the worst offensive lines in the league. Joe Burrow was the most sacked Quarterback in the NFL as he was taken down 51 times meanwhile, the Rams defense finished 3rd in sacks this season with 50. Another huge matchup in this game will be Ja’marr Chase vs Jalen Ramsey the Bengals best receiver vs the Rams best corner and the best overall corner in football. I expect Ramsey to follow Chase for majority of the game and whoever wins this matchup could very well determine the winner.
The Bengals defense will have their work cut out for them with the fantastic duo of Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham Jr. The Bengals secondary did a great job of sticking with the Chiefs Wide outs in the second half, but they will have to duplicate that this week. Odell and Eli Apple will more than likely be matched up a ton and then I expect the Bengals to give Cooper Kupp a mixture of Chidobe Awuzie and Mike Hilton. The Bengals pass rush harassed Patrick Mahomes combining for 4 sacks and although Stafford has been great against the blitz he’s struggled when he’s pressured and hit. The Rams offensive line allowed the 5th lowest pressure percentage allowed this season.
The Bengals struggled to defend the run in the AFC Championship game allowing over 5 yard per carry. If the Rams can finally get their run game going and unlike KC stay consistent with the run game, I expect them to have tremendous success against Cincy defense.
The Bengals seem to be a team of destiny as they beat the AFC’s #1 and #2 seeds on the road to get here. I believe in the end the Rams pass rush will be extremely dominant especially Miller and Donald who live for games like this. The Rams also have the coaching advantage as Sean McVay is one of the 5 bests in football. Lastly, I just think the Rams are the better team and I feel like their stars from Stafford to Beckham Jr to Donald to Ramsey will do anything in this game to earn their first rings in their respective careers.
The Rams super team gamble pays off and they win Super Bowl LVI in their home stadium.
