A report came out last Thursday that, future Hall of Fame Quarterback, Aaron Rodgers wanted Green Bay to trade him. We’ve heard rumblings for the past few years about frustration coming from Rodgers. First, coming from his relationship with Mike McCarthy, then last year, Green Bay took it up a notch, and drafted Rodgers successor, Jordan Love, in the first round of the draft.
Rodgers seem to have reached a boiling point now, after seeing Tom Brady come to the NFC, and the Bucs immediately build a Super Bowl winning team around him. Rodgers hasn’t had that luxury in his illustrious career. In Rodgers time with Green Bay, the Packers have selected two offensive skill players. Those two players are Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love.
It’s been four teams linked to Rodgers since Thursday, those teams are the Denver Broncos, who seem to be the favorites, the Las Vegas Raiders, the San Francisco 49ers, and the New York Giants.
Rodgers wants weapons and someone who understands how he wants to be appreciated. Denver gives him the weapons, they have Courtland Sutton, who is coming off an ACL tear, but when last seen was a Pro Bowler. Jerry Jeudy, who is one of the brightest young wideouts in the NFL, and then Tim Patrick, Noah Fant and KJ Hamler, to round out a very young and bright core. Not to mention Denver has on paper, an elite defense, and lastly, someone who understands Rodgers in John Elway who brought in Peyton Manning nine years ago. The 49ers offer is probably a better chance than Denver has at winning, but I don’t know if San Francisco will be willing to give up as much, especially after drafting Trey Lance with the number three overall pick. The Giants would have a lot to offer as well in Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shephard, and a up and coming defense. Lastly, the Raiders who’s outside of being in Las Vegas don’t offer much. They decided to rebuild their offensive line even though it was very good, then they have the worst defense and weapons out of the four. On top of that their cap situation is also the worst. If Rodgers wanted to rank his options, to me, it would look like
1. 49ers, if they were willing to give up enough
2. Broncos
3. Giants
4. Raiders
Aaron Rodgers knows his time is ticking and he’s a very competitive person, seeing Tom Brady win his seventh Super Bowl. I’m sure Rodgers is tired of just being considered the most talented at his position, he wants to make at G.O.A.T status. Although that probably won’t happen, it won’t keep him from trying. Green Bay should’ve appreciated him more, but it looks like it’s too late.
