Each Super Bowl Contender’s Biggest Weakness

Buffalo Bills Offensive Line You must be extremely nit-picky to find a weakness with the most complete team and the Super Bowl favorites. The Bills had games where they just dominated people, but sometimes their offensive line had extreme struggles just go back and watch what Jacksonville did to them in week 9. Buffalo was held to six points and lost while Josh Allen was sacked four times. Buffalo doesn’t have a horrible offensive line as they did rank 12th in DVOA, but if I had to find any weakness it would be Buffalo, and to be more specific, the interior of the offensive line.

Kansas City Chiefs Youth The Kansas City Chiefs have had a very dominant run in the Patrick Mahomes era hosting four AFC Championship games, going to two Super Bowls winning one, and overall, just running the AFC. Now, Kansas City did some retooling during the offseason trading All-Pro Wide Receiver Tyreek Hill to Miami and losing the Honey Badger to New Orleans amongst other departures from the team. Now with bringing in guys like Trent McDuffie, George Karlaftis, Skyy Moore, Bryan Cook, and more, the Chiefs will be very reliant upon their rookies to maintain the success that they’ve had.

Los Angeles Chargers Offensive speed Linebackers could’ve been listed as well, but I’m going to go with the bigger concern in my opinion. The Chargers severely lack speed out wide with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. Allen does make corners look like they're on ice and Mike dunks on corners, but the lack of speed worries me, and Keenan Allen showed slight signs of decline in 2021. I hoped they would draft Chris Olave in this year’s draft however, they didn’t get the chance to do so now it’ll be up to Allen and Williams to build on their success from last season.

Cincinnati Bengals Cornerback The Bengals added to their offensive line that should be much better in 2022. Their cornerback room still leaves a lot to be desired. Chidobe Awuzie had a solid year in 2021 and Eli Apple had one of his better seasons especially in the postseason. Mike Hilton is also in consideration for best slot corners in the league. However, this isn’t an elite group by any means, and it’ll be interesting to see if they can bring their playoff success into this season.

Los Angeles Rams Offensive line The salary cap may have finally caught up with the Rams as it’s a few things that could have been listed here from linebackers to corner depth. However, the offensive line concerns me after losing Andrew Whitworth, it’ll be very interesting to see how they do this season. The Rams were 6th in DVOA for offensive linemen so they may fall to the middle of the pack, but not a terrible dip. However, losing a Hall of Fame Left Tackle always hurts.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Interior Offensive Line Tampa Bay has two very good tackles, but in the interior of the o-line Ali Marpet retired, they lost Alex Cappa to the Bengals in free agency, and then lost Ryan Jensen to a serious knee injury at the very beginning of Training Camp. If you look at the NFC, it’s a lot of solid to great interior rushers from Kenny Clark to Fletcher Cox to Aaron Donald. The Bucs did acquire Shaq Mason from the Patriots, but it will be key for Tampa Bay’s interior offensive line to step up and protect Brady.

Green Bay Packers

Wide Receivers

Green Bay lost All-Pro Davante Adams, and now their number one option is Allen Lazard who had a career high 513 yards in 2021 yes 513. They did add Sammy Watkins, who has trouble staying healthy, and they drafted Christian Watson. Aaron Rodgers will always give you a chance, and this defense is going to be amazing with the amount of talent and depth on that side of the ball. Green Bay will have to rely on their strong offensive line and run game more than ever.
