NFC EAST
1. Washington Football Team 10-7
2. Dallas Cowboys 9-8
3. New York Giants 7-11
4. Philadelphia Eagles 5-12
I am very high on the Football Team. The defense is obviously their strongest side of the ball, but the offense is no slouch either with the incredibly fast trio of Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, and Antonio Gibson. I like the addition of Ryan Fitzpatrick, who may unlock this offense. It’s no secret with Fitzpatrick, you never know what you’ll get from him. I am basing my prediction that he’ll be how he was last year with the Dolphins.
The Cowboys have Dak Prescott coming back, so I can understand why they would be the division favorites, but that defense is still a huge question mark, and Dak has been dealing with an injury throughout training camp. If he can remain healthy, the Cowboys have the offensive weapons to make some noise.
I really like the Giants roster, but I am not a fan of Daniel Jones. He has the most turnovers out of all quarterbacks since 2019, with 39 of them. If he can limit those, and if Saquon Barkley can stay healthy, they can exceed my win expectations, but I’ll have to see those things to believe them.
The Eagles have grown on me. Prior to the preseason, I had them as a top three pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Watching them though, I like some of the talent they have, and Hurts seems to have made some good strides. Devonta Smith and Jalen Reagor could be a good duo, and I love Miles Sanders. The defense has some nice pieces too. It’ll be interesting to see if new head coach Nick Sirianni is the right man for the job.
NFC SOUTH
1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14-3
2. New Orleans Saints 9-8
3. Atlanta Falcons 8-9
4. Carolina Panthers 6-11
Do I really need to say much about the Super Bowl champion Bucs? They brought back every starter from their title run, and now have one of the easiest schedules in the NFL.
The Saints have been overlooked in my opinion, they have good talent and a top five head coach in Sean Payton. Jameis Winston could unlock something the Saints offense hasn’t had in a few years, and that’s the deep passing game. The Saints will be without Michael Thomas to start the season, but I believe in Payton to be able to keep them afloat throughout that time.
The Falcons have been a big joke amongst NFL fans since their 28-3 Super Bowl collapse against the Patriots. They made some big moves this offseason, firing head coach Dan Quinn, and trading the face of their franchise, Julio Jones. I like the hiring of Arthur Smith and the drafting of Kyle Pitts. They have some question marks with the offensive line and the secondary, but with their manageable schedule, I expect a nice win increase.
The Panthers brought in Sam Darnold to see if he can turn his career around from his frustrating time with the Jets. Christian McCaffrey also comes back from an injury riddled season. I like the Panthers young defense, led by Brian Burns and Jeremy Chinn, and then on the offensive side, they have some nice weapons with DJ Moore and Robby Anderson.
NFC NORTH
1. Green Bay Packers 11-6
2. Minnesota Vikings 11-6
3. Bears 7-10
4. Lions 4-13
The Packers had an offseason filled with drama, as Aaron Rodgers asked for a trade, and now, we must see if this team will be able to overcome all the drama. They have the talent to make a Super Bowl run, but I worry the drama may add even more pressure to this team.
The Vikings sadly have become everyone’s sleeper, as I had my eye on them all offseason. They have immense offensive talent, and the defense should be healthier this year. They added Patrick Peterson and Bashaun Breeland to the secondary, and I am a big fan of second year corner Cam Dantzler. I think the Vikings return to the playoffs this offseason.
The Bears had Justin Fields fall into their lap in the draft now they’re hoping he saves the team from their poor quarterback history. However, the Bears will start Andy Dalton week one against the Rams. The Bears have wasted the potential of the elite defense they have
But they hope Fields can develop before their defense run comes to an end. I expect the Bears to regress but show promise for the future once Fields takes over.
The Lions have some decent young talent across the board. They’re heading in the right direction, but this year will be another painful year for Lions fans.
NFC WEST
1. Los Angeles Rams 12-5
2. San Francisco 49ers 11-6
3. Seattle Seahawks 11-6
4. Arizona Cardinals 9-8
I absolutely love the Rams and their potential for this season. Elite pass rush, elite secondary and then you add the offense, which should reach another level with the addition of Matthew Stafford. The Rams matchup with everyone. I feel like now, Sean McVay has the quarterback that can operate his offense, and not have to simplify things like he did for Goff.
The 49ers have been forgotten about it feels like, but they have great talent to make a deep playoff run. Jimmy G may be the starter to start the season, but I expect Trey Lance to takeover and lead them to the playoffs.
The Seahawks are always a great first half of the season team, but they always hit a rough patch in the season where it’s like, here we go again. Russell Wilson has a great stable of weapons, now the defense must continue the great play they were showing towards the end of the season.
I really feel like the Cardinals have the talent to make the playoffs, but I’m not sure about head coach Kliff Kingsburry. They have Kyler Murray, who I think will make a tremendous leap this season, and the defense has potential, if the secondary can play at even just a decent level.
