We’ve reached the Super Bowl and what a surprise, the Patriots are in! New England will play in its 9th Super Bowl since 2002 and look to tie the Steelers for the most titles in the NFL with six. The Rams make their first Super Bowl appearance since 2002 when they lost to Tom Brady in Brady’s first Super Bowl appearance. Typically, the way to beat Brady is to pressure him, and in my other two predictions for the Patriots this postseason, I said that would be the key to the game for the Chargers and Chiefs. Neither got near enough pressure on Brady and that’s why they’re at home. The Rams, however, have the pass rush and arguably the best defensive line in football. They also have the best overall player in football, Aaron Donald. The Rams have the right recipe to beat New England. Donald led the NFL in sacks with 20.5, and will most likely be named the Defensive Player of the Year this Saturday during the NFL Award show. Not only do the Rams have the pass rush to get to Brady, they have the corners to make him pay for hurried throws. Aquib Talib and Marcus Peters are two of the best at intercepting the Quarterback, and if they can get a turnover or two from Brady, that would go a long way in winning the Rams second Lombardi trophy in their history. The Rams offense will do what they do and that’s score points. Todd Gurley is expected to be his normal self after a poor NFC Championship game and that is tremendous news for the Rams. For New England, they’re riding this underdog mentality, and Brady seems more fired up than ever and is playing out of his mind! The Patriots will have to establish the run game with Sony Michel and test the Rams linebackers in coverage with James White. If the Patriots can prevent the Rams pass rush from hitting Brady with the quick pass game, it’ll be a long day for the Rams defense. The Patriots defense will try and take away the Rams biggest deep threat, Brandin Cooks, but the Rams have so many weapons I don’t see that phasing them. With that being said, I am picking the Rams to win the Super Bowl!
