WEEK 4 NFL PREDICTIONS

Updated: Sep 26, 2019

Thursday September 26th 7:20 PM CT on FOX

Philadelphia Eagles 1-2 @ Green Bay Packers 3-0

The Eagles have had a slow start due to injuries; they have 12 people on the injury report. Two of the injuries are to their top wide receivers Desean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery. Since these two went out week two against the Falcons, the rest of the wide receiver core has suffered from a case of the dropsies. The defense has struggled, and the offensive line hasn’t looked as dominant this season as it has the past few years. Green Bay has been a surprise defensively which is a tremendous help to a Packers offense adjusting to a new system under first year Head Coach Matt LaFleur. Once the Packers click offensively, there will be trouble. The defense should be fine this week especially with the Eagles minus Jackson and possibly Jeffery. In the end I expect Green Bay to pull to 4-0 Thursday night.

Washington Redskins 0-3 @ New York Giants 1-2

After Case Keenum’s Monday night debacle the Redskins have a perfect opportunity to thrust rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins into the starting job especially wit Case Keenum going through an ankle injury. The Giants started their first-round pick Daniel Jones last week and the rookie shined going 23-36 for 336 yards and four total touchdowns. Jay Gruden says the season isn’t lost so it sounds like Haskins will sit another week. Haskins time is coming, however, with each performance from Keenum getting more atrocious, it is almost time for the Redskins to roll out their rookie. I see Daniel Jones getting his second win of the season and the Redskins one week closer to Haskins time.

Tennessee Titans 1-2 @ Atlanta Falcons 1-2

A matchup of the Titans top 10 defense vs the Falcons top 10 offense we get to se two teams with talented rosters yet have struggled so far to start the season. Last week both teams lost and now hope to get back on track. The Titans offense has held them back while the Falcons defense has held them back it should be a good matchup but in the end the Falcons are a different team at home, so I’ll ride with them.

Sunday September 29th 12:00 PM CT on CBS

Los Angeles Chargers 1-2 @ Miami Dolphins 0-3

The Chargers are off to a slow start, but that’s nothing new when it comes to them. They’ve started off 1-2 four of the past five seasons The Dolphins are an easy matchup for any team so far] . Last week losing to the Cowboys 31-6. The Chargers are in need a win to try and keep up with the Chiefs and with their next two games against teams with a combined 0-6 record they should do just that starting this week.

Chargers 34 Dolphins 13

Oakland Raiders 1-2 @ Indianapolis Colts 2-1

The Raiders after looking like a good team through the first five quarters of the season since then they have been outscored 62-24 and now, they must play a tough Colts team who have showed they’re still a threat in the AFC. The Colts played an impressive game on both ends last week against the Falcons, and Jacoby Brissett has played impressively and against a Raiders defense that has been torched the past two weeks. I think it should continue this week.

Raiders 17 Colts 30

Sunday September 29th 12:00 PM CT on FOX

Carolina Panthers 1-2 @ Houston Texans 2-1

Last week Kyle Allen took over for an injured Cam Newton and showed out going 19-26, 261 yards, and four touchdowns with a 144.4 quarterback rating. The Panthers defense showed up as well. Now Allen has a chance to run with the job if he can continue to win games and play above the level that Cam Newton was playing the first two weeks of the season. The Texans beat the Chargers last week, but the Texans defense has gotten better each week as they compiled 5 sacks against Phillip Rivers. Deshaun Watson was amazing last week going 25-34, 351 yards, three touchdowns and a 135.8 passer rating. The Panthers had eight sacks last week and if they can take advantage of a weak Houston offensive line. I think this game will be close but Deshaun Watson being the magician he is will lead to a Houston victory.

Panthers 23 Texans 28

Kansas City Chiefs 3-0 @ Detroit Lions 2-0-1

The Chiefs haven’t missed a beat offensively looking even more dangerous offensively than last years historic offense. Reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes has 10 touchdowns and 0 interceptions, but this Lions defense has been not good but great this season especially against the Pass. This is going to be a good game and the Lions secondary hasn’t seen the type of explosive offense, yet the Chiefs provide. Lions’ head coach Matt Patricia’s game-plan must be similar to his mentor Bill Belichick who gave Mahomes probably the toughest time last season in the two games they played and even held Mahomes scoreless in the AFC Championship game. I think with the Detroit run game and Matthew Stafford playing well so far, they will hang around, but I can’t bet against this Chiefs offense that has yet to be fully figured out.

New England Patriots 3-0 @ Buffalo Bills 3-0

The Patriots being good is no surprise here, but the Bills being 3-0 has been a bit of a surprise so far. They welcome the Patriots into Buffalo where I’m sure the crowd will be rocking; the Patriots defense has been incredible so far albeit against teams with a combined record of 0-9 so now New England will be semi tested. I think the Bills come out hot off hype, but at halftime Bill Belichick and Tom Brady will make the proper adjustments and rattle Josh Allen into making turnovers leading to New England pulling away in the 4th quarter.

Patriots 33 Bills 21

Sunday September 29th 12:00 PM CT on CBS

Cleveland Browns 1-2 @ Baltimore Ravens 2-1

The Browns have yet to click while the Ravens have looked much improved, and they should be striking real fear into the top contenders in the AFC. Cleveland lost to the Rams last week on Sunday night due to very questionable play calling and bad play from the offensive line. The Ravens showed they could hang with the top dogs losing to the Chiefs 33-28 in Arrowhead last Sunday. Now these two both look to get back on track and in a game with big time playmakers everywhere. I feel like Cleveland’s offensive line and their inability to click offensively will cost them again this week against Baltimore.

Browns 21 Ravens 26

Sunday September 29th 3:05 PM CT on FOX

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1-2 @ Los Angeles Rans 3-0

Tampa Bay blew an 18-point lead last Sunday at home to the Giants, and now this week it doesn’t get any easier for them as they travel West to face the undefeated Rams. The good news for Tampa is Jameis Winston has looked pretty good these past two weeks and his connection with star wide receiver Mike Evans heated up last week as they connected for three touchdowns. The Rams are coming off a Sunday night win in Cleveland and are looking for their second straight 4-0 start. The Rams’ defense seems to be much improved this season and the offense is still extremely lethal despite having to limit Todd Gurley’s touches. I think the Rams win this one handily.

Bucs 16 Rams 35

Sunday September 29th 3:05 PM CT on FOX

Seattle Seahawks 2-1 @ Arizona Cardinals 0-3

The Seahawks suffered their first loss at home probably taking a Saints team without Drew Brees. They’ll likely look to take that anger out on Kyler Murray and the winless Cardinals. The Cardinals have played well enough to be in games so far this season, but their youth has cost them, and it should do the same this week going up against Russell Wilson and the Seahawks.

Seahawks 28 Cardinals 16

Sunday September 29th 3:25 PM CT on CBS

Minnesota Vikings 2-1 @ Chicago Bears 2-1

The Vikings and Bears is a matchup between two teams with playoff potential. Both teams won last week with ease and now they have a big early season showdown. There is only one question when it comes to this Bears team - can Mitchell Tribusky play well enough to compliment their supremely talented defense? In most cases the answer has been no and although he played very well last week it was the lowly Redskins this game is against a good Vikings team. The Vikings have a similar question; however, can Kirk Cousins win big games? The answer has also been similar. In most cases no, as he hasn’t been able to do so, but the impressive run game with Dalvin Cook has taken pressure off him and keep defenses honest and makes it easier for Cousins to use the play action to hit his two star receivers - Stefon Diggs and Adam Theilen. The Bears’ defense will hold up as always, but I think this week another poor Mitch Tribusky performance rears its ugly head once again.

Vikings 20 Bears 17

Sunday September 29th 3:25 PM CT on FOX

Jacksonville Jaguars 1-2 @ Denver Broncos 0-3

Gardner Minshew has been a heck of a story for the Jaguars this season. The quarterback took over for an injured Nick Foles in week one and has played well in his time starting. He played very well last week against the Titans going 20-30, with 204 yards, and two touchdowns. Now he must play a motivated Broncos defense in Denver which is always a hard place to play, the good news for Minshew? The Broncos with Von Miller, Bradley Chubb, and Chris Harris Jr have yet to get a sack or a turnover this season, the first team in 50 years without a sack or takeaway through the first three games of the season. The Jaguars might be without Jalen Ramsey, but not because of a trade. The corner is dealing with lower hamstring issues, and this should be a low scoring defensive game, but I think the Broncos pull this one out behind defense and a strong run game.

Jaguars 16 Broncos 17

Sunday September 29th 7:25 PM CT on NBC

Dallas Cowboys 3-0 @ New Orleans Saints 2-1

This game at first may have lost some luster when Drew Brees went down, but Sean Payton had Teddy Bridgewater ready to play last week in Seattle and I’m sure he can do the same this week. Dallas has yet to be tested, and now they must go to New Orleans with that incredibly loud fan base. This will be a test Brees or not. The Saints will keep this close, but in the end the Cowboys new offense and their strong defense will hush the crowd and they’ll pass their first test.

Cowboys 23 Saints 17

Monday September 30th 7:15 PM CT on ESPN

Cincinnati Bengals 0-3 @ Pittsburgh Steelers 0-3

The game for the bottom of the AFC North the Bengals travel too Pittsburgh as both teams look for their first win. Both teams came close last week but suffered losses on the road. Mason Rudolph has played well since taking over for Big Ben this is tough because of how both teams have been terrible at stretches then also look better than their record at other times. I’m going to go with Cincinnati to get their first win this week.

Bengals 24 Steelers 22
