WEEK 5 NFL PREDICTIONS

Thursday October 3rd 7:20 PM CT on FOX

Los Angeles Rams 3-1 @ Seattle Seahawks 3-1

The Rams and Seahawks always play each other tough whether they’re having a good season or not. It just so happens that this year they both have got off to good starts. The Rams have won three in a row in the series with the last two being decided by a combined five points. I see another close one here as the Rams look to bounce back from their terrible performance on defense last week allowing 55 points to Jameis and the Buccaneers last week. The Seahawks bounced back nicely last week defeating the Cardinals. Jared Goff and the Rams offense hasn’t been the same this season and Goff struggles on the road I think he’ll struggle again with the loud Seattle crowd and the Seahawks will take control of the NFC West division lead.

Chicago Bears 3-1 @ Oakland Raiders 2-2

This game is in London, and Chase Daniel will be starting for the Bears this week after Mitch Tribusky dislocated his shoulder and has a partial tear of his shoulder labrum. The Raiders bounced back last week defeating the Colts now they hope to take that success to London against a very stout Bears defense. So far, the Bears defense is allowing only 11.3 points per game this season and they will be able hold Oakland at bay if Chase Daniel and the offense get off to a slow start. Bears win their 4th in a row.

New England Patriots 4-0 @ Washington Redskins 0-4

The Patriots played a tough game last week in Buffalo, but they showed their defense can carry them if need be and now, they travel to Washington to play a Redskins team without a plan for quarterback this week. Dwayne Haskins took over for a struggling Case Keenum and the rookie threw three interceptions in a 24-6 loss to the Giants. Head Coach Jay Gruden said he hasn’t determined a starter for this week, and that he may not all the way up until game time but whoever they start, it won’t make a difference against the champs.

Buffalo Bills 3-1 @ Tennessee Titans 2-2

The Bills were at the 1-yard line when Matt Barkley threw an Interception. They could’ve taken a 17-16 lead over the Patriots at that time, but they never got back to the redzone. Their defense is for real, and Josh Allen is improving steadily and giving the defense enough to work with so far. The Titans went to Atlanta and dominated, and rookie receiver AJ Brown had his breakout game with three receptions for 94 yards and two touchdowns. The Bills aren’t sure if quarterback Josh Allen will play this week as he is in the concussion protocol, but he seems to be making progress to play he was limited in practice Wednesday. If he doesn’t play backup, Matt Barkley will have to play better than he did last week against a Titans team with a very legit defense of their own. I see the Titans pulling this one out no matter who starts in a hard-fought defensive game.

Baltimore Ravens 2-2 @ Pittsburgh Steelers 1-3

The Ravens look to get back on track this week against their divisional rival Steelers. Baltimore losers of two straight games, need to get back to themselves on defense as the past two weeks they’ve allowed 33 and 40 points. I’m sure a mad Ravens defense isn’t something Mason Rudolph wants to see, but he’s played well during his three starts especially on Monday night when he went 24 for 28 with 229 yards and two touchdowns. Pittsburgh will be competitive in this game as their defense has also improved as the season has progressed, but Lamar Jackson and the Ravens will bounce back this week.

New York Jets 0-3 @ Philadelphia Eagles 2-2

Quarterback Sam Darnold returned to practice this week and his status for this week’s game is up in the air. The Jets could use him as the offense has been looking pathetic without him. The defense has tried their hardest to keep them in games, and you can tell how much the offense misses their young signal caller. The Eagles got a huge win last week in Green Bay, now they can build on that momentum, however, they do still have injuries like to DeSean Jackson who is day to day with an abdominal injury. The Eagles found something last week which is a strong run game as Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders combined for 26 carries for 159 yards and two touchdowns. That will take pressure off Carson Wentz who has been reminding people he is an elite quarterback. The Eagles handle this at home.

Minnesota Vikings 2-2 @ New York Giants 2-2

Tensions are flaring in Minnesota as Adam Theilen took a little shot at Kirk Cousins, and Stefon Diggs has been leaving hints on social media that he may want out. These two lite receivers have a legit reason to be upset at their quarterback who has struggled throughout his career against good teams. Since 2017, Kirk Cousin’s teams are 3-16 against teams 500 or better. The Giants who won their second in a row last week seem to have improved in every facet after rookie Daniel Jones took over for Eli Manning, and now, they hope to build on these wins with Jones’ first real test against a good team and a good defense. I’m really intrigued here to pick the upset, but I think the Vikings change things up on offense this week and Diggs and Theilen have big weeks against a poor Giants secondary.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2-2 @ New Orleans Saints 3-1

Tampa Bay seems to have found something on offense and maybe even gotten something to click in Jameis Winston’s head. The past two weeks the quarterback has been absolutely on fire. Winston has gone for 380+ yards and 3+ touchdowns back to back weeks and last week the Bucs walked into LA and put 55 up on the reigning NFC Champions. The Saints’ defense has stepped up since Drew Brees went down and last week, they proved they’re still contenders in the NFC after limiting the explosive Dallas offense to just ten points. The Saints held Ezekiel Elliot to 35 yards on 18 carries and stymied the Dallas passing attack. The Bucs have the potential to come out with a division win this week, but I think the Saints’ defense steps up to the plate again and Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara lead the offense to a win against a bad Tampa defense.

Atlanta Falcons 1-3 @ Houston Texans 2-2

The Falcons defense is a mess right now, and the offense can’t protect Matt Ryan with several injuries to the offensive line that doesn’t bode well against Texans offense with DeShaun Watson and Deandre Hopkins and a defense with JJ Watt. Houston lost to Carolina last week was completely shut down being held to ten points. The Falcons’ secondary has been bad all season, and I can’t see them stopping Watson and Hopkins this week, but I do suspect they’ll put up a fight knowing their season is slipping away.

Arizona Cardinals 0-3-1 @ Cincinnati Bengals 0-4

Someone will finally get their first win of the season, but both teams make it hard to pick. Kyler Murray needs to be more aggressive throwing and running in my opinion to win this game, they need him to basically take over the game especially with the lack of talent around him running more may help the offense. The Bengals could only muster up three points last week in Pittsburgh, now minus John Ross and AJ Green the production at receiver will be a question mark minus Tyler Boyd. The Bengals will have to lean on Joe Mixon this week. The home team has won ten of the last 11 games in this series I don’t think that home dominance continues here.

Cardinals 24 Bengals 20

Sunday October 6th 12:00 PM CT on CBS

Jacksonville Jaguars 2-2 @ Carolina Panthers 2-2

These are two teams who have won two in a row with their backup quarterbacks. Now they hope to build on the good play from the young signal callers to go over 500. Gardner Minshew led a huge comeback last week in Denver while Kyle Allen did enough for Carolina to beat Houston. I think this should be a sneaky good game this week, but I like the Panthers with Christian McCaffrey having a great season to win their third straight.

Jaguars 16 Panthers 19

Sunday October 6th 3:05 PM CT on CBS

Denver Broncos 0-4 @ Los Angeles Chargers 2-2

The Broncos and Chargers are always hard to predict they play each other so tough obviously division foes, but with two teams like the Seahawks and Rams, no matter the record, you can always count on a good game. The Broncos are 7-3 on the road against the Chargers the last ten seasons, and they hope to continue that trend obviously needing that first win to try and finally get that first win. The Chargers are 2-2, but maybe they should be happy with that with all the injuries that they’ve had to start the season. Phillip Rivers loves playing the Broncos and with the Chargers knowing they need to win games like these early in the season to keep up with the Chiefs and the wild card race I think the Chargers win this one.

Sunday October 6th 3:25 PM CT on FOX

Green Bay Packers 3-1 @ Dallas Cowboys 3-1

In my opinion, this is the game of the week. Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay travel to Dallas to play the Cowboys. Both teams suffered their first loss last week and, in a matchup, to show who’s the top dog now in the NFC. Aaron Rodgers has been the thorn in the Cowboys side. Green Bay has won seven of the last eight games against Dallas including the playoffs so for Dallas this is a test for them to see where they are. The Packers will be minus Davontae Adams which will help the Cowboys defense which is already a tough unit now Dallas hopes to get their offense back on track as they were only able to get ten points last week. Green Bay has had a weakness exposed on defense and that is their ability to stop the run and guess who they face this week? Ezekiel Elliot who is arguably the best running back in the league. Green Bay is 26th against the run and I think that will be their downfall this week as the Cowboys get a big win against their nemesis Rodgers

Packers 27 Cowboys 30

Sunday October 6th 7:20 PM CT on NBC

Indianapolis Colts 2-2 @ Kansas City Chiefs 4-0

This game had a lot of intrigue when first seen on the schedule, but when Andrew Luck abruptly retired, the Colts have to look at this like no one is giving them a chance. Last week the Colts were picked apart by Derek Carr and the Raiders offense. The Colts have injuries to key players like Marlon Mack, T.Y. Hilton and Malik Hooker. If the Colts hope to shock the Chiefs, their defense will have to do a better job than they did in the Divisional round of the playoffs last year. The Chiefs had their toughest game of the season last week in Detroit and showed even when it’s not pretty they’re built to win. The Chiefs offense should be more explosive at home and the Colts secondary isn’t built to hold this dynamite Chiefs offense.

Colts 21 Chiefs 34

Monday October 7th 7:15 PM CT on ESPN

Cleveland Browns 2-2 @ San Francisco 49ers 3-0

The Browns’ offense finally exploded and people will say Odell didn’t have a good game and they still scored 40 without him and that’s just not true. Odell had Baltimore’s defense on high alert all game which led to Nick Chubb having a great game with 20 carries, 165 yards, and three touchdowns. Jarvis Landry had his biggest game of the season with eight catches for 167 yards. With OBJ garnering all the attention, the Browns have the playmakers necessary to where you can’t just focus on him the whole game. The 49ers have gotten out to a 3-0 start and sit as the only unbeaten team in the NFC. Their defense has played well, and Jimmy G gets better with each week. The 49ers are 9-3 on Monday night since 2010, but I think although their defense has played well, and they haven’t seen talent like Cleveland’s, and they’ll suffer their first loss of the season this week.

Browns 28 49ers 23
